AI Ads Services

ChatGPT, Copilot, AI Mode, and what's next.

Advertising inside AI assistants is early, but it's clearly where things are heading. ChatGPT already has its own standalone ad platform. Microsoft Copilot ads run through the Microsoft Advertising account you may already have. Gemini has no ads yet, but Google's signaled it's open to the idea, so that's likely just a matter of time. I keep track of this landscape so you're set up properly on whichever platform actually makes sense.

What's included

ChatGPT Ads

  • Advertiser account setup through OpenAI's own self-serve Ads Manager
  • Writing effective Context Hints: the conversations and questions that trigger your ad, instead of keyword bidding
  • CPC bidding strategy, since OpenAI moved on from its original CPM-only model
  • Conversions API (CAPI) and pixel setup so results are actually measured

Microsoft Copilot Ads

  • No separate account needed. Copilot ads run through your existing Microsoft Advertising setup
  • Opting campaigns into Microsoft's "AI Max for Search" placements
  • Reusing and adapting your existing Search, Shopping and Performance Max assets
  • Performance tracked in the same Microsoft Advertising reporting you already use

Google AI Overviews & AI Mode Ads

  • No separate ads manager exists for these. They run through your existing Google Ads account
  • Opting eligible Search campaigns into AI Max, Google's feature suite that helps ads stay eligible as Search evolves toward AI Overviews and AI Mode
  • Standard Google Ads targeting and tracking, no new setup required

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a separate account for each AI platform?

Only for ChatGPT. Microsoft Copilot ads run through your existing Microsoft Advertising account. If you're already running Microsoft Ads, you may already be eligible without any extra signup. Google's AI Mode ads work the same way through your existing Google Ads account.

How is ChatGPT's ad system different from bidding on Google Ads?

Instead of bidding on specific keywords, you write "Context Hints," descriptions of the conversations, questions or situations where your product is relevant, and OpenAI's system decides when to surface your ad. It's a genuinely different skill from traditional keyword-based PPC, which is exactly why getting it set up properly matters.

Which of these is worth prioritising right now?

For most businesses, Copilot and Google's AI Mode ads are close to "free" incremental reach if you're already running Microsoft or Google Ads properly. ChatGPT is the one that needs a genuine decision, since it's newer, has less performance data available, and requires its own setup. I'll give you a straight answer on each rather than pushing all three just because they're new.
